Star Gazing

ginebig Jan 18, 2005 07:17 AM

Saw someone post about this in a couple other forums this morning, and it reminded me of my male. several years ago he would do this on a fairly regular basis. Haven't seen it in a long time, but never understood what it was or why it happened. Would someone explain it to me please. It's obviously no fatal, he's still kickin'. Just curious, thanks.

star gazing is a sign of IBD which is fatal. It can also be symptoms of RI. IBD is contagious and quickly fatal to pythons. It is my african rock I noticed doing it but he appears to be healthy otherwise and eating great. I just want opinions for other symptoms to look for before I move him from the snake room. It is very cold everywhere else so it would be a risk to his health if I move him, but if it saves my entire collection I will likely put him in a bathroom and run the shower extrememly hot for a while and keep the door shut to hopefully hold heat and humidity in.

have you gotten any boids in the last 6 mos that you did not quarantine and placed with your collection.if so move them and the african rock OUT my bp used to look like a periscope here and there, thats ok, but a blank empty stare at the sky with head swaying for elongated period of time is a sign of something more serious
it is better to err on the side of caution than wipe out your whole collection
