About the new sub-forums ... my views....

There are definently some benefits, but I think this new system is pretty much going to kill this forum. Before it was already fairly dead on the forum, and it was pretty easy for me to ready every post each day. Now that it is divided into ELEVEN forums here just for kingsnakes, it's going to get really really dead. I definently don't have the time or will to search around all these forums and keep up with new topics. I had learned a lot about the hobby and we as hobbyists by the variety of topics and users when it was just one general king forum. While I think it is great to recognize all the subspecies with a forum, the negatives will outweigh the positives and kill this place.

I haven't been able to get an exact measurement on her, but she's over four feet I think. She's chillen on my bed right now.. following around the scent of my corn snake, lol. I should go try to stretch her out.....

Subforums are not going to 'kill' the forums. Boa people for example have been complaining about degeneralization for a long time now and their general forum is still thriving as are the 'breakout' forums and after many many months they are still complaining that their forum is going to die an agonizing death eventually.

As I tried explaining below in another thread...

You and everyone else are more than welcome to discuss ANY form of kingsnake here on the main kingsnake forum.

If anyone does not like the sub-forums, don't use them. People may continue to discuss all their kingsnake-related issues and topics here in the general kingsnake forum.

If, on the other hand, you're someone who is looking for specific advice that you are better able to get help with from those individuals who prefer to post in the topic-specific forums/subforums, then post there.

No one's forcing anyone to choose between the two formats. Some people will obviously stick to general forums while others will perfer to gravitate towards the specific ones, and then there will be those individuals who hop between the two spectra.

Not all people want to see subforums or more specific topics because they want to keep as much as possible lumped together in a general format. However, at the same time we are not going to deny those individuals that do want such an expanded structure.

Give things time. Find a forum or group of forums that you feel you best fit in and most comfortable with. The generalists keep what they want, the specialists get what they want, and the drifters navigate between both. See...everyone is supposed to live happily ever after.

and I am not exactly complaining that the forum is divided up, I just worry that a lot of questions and discussions in some sub-forums are going to missed by others who would otherwise be able to give excellent advice. On the other hand, the oppositie could be true with some of the dedicated sub-forums. Like you said, we will see how this goes, I am optimistic and thankfull for the forum(s).
