H20 question

rowotter Jan 18, 2005 12:52 PM

I have a couple questions about a watering system for a rodent rack. I have 5 levels, each with 3 bins. I want to install a watering system, but have a few questions.

#1-Is a 1 gallon storage bucket for the water a waste of my time? Should I go for the 5 gallon bucket? Do I need a top for the bucket? I think I already know the answer to these questions, but still would like to hear what you guys think...

#2-What exactly is the story for the "drain vents"? Do I need one at the end of each rack level? One for the entire rack? If I go one for the entire rack, how do you recommend that I close off each level? Here's a link to one from AGselect..l

Any info you could provide would be great. Thanks!

question #1 go with the 5 gallon bucket. I do not have lids on mine, but probably should to keep dust out and from eventually cloging the lines, so yes do it.

#2, I use drain vents at the end of each level and open them one by one for a few seconds once a week or so just to ensure that no air bubbles form within my lines.
