If they're legit and have paperwork I'd jump all over it. I never cared much for pieds but they've grown on me and now I'm in the process of getting a pair of hets myself. --- Good luck

Sounds fishy, why would anyone sell true 2002 hets at the price of hatchlings!?!
And papers don't mean squat unless they come with a signed hatchling picture.
Do yourself a favor and get a pair from a reputable breeder, you will sleep that much better at night!
Good luck
2002 animals should be atleast breedable at this time, male 1000ish grams and female atleast double. NOW, pieds are what 5-6k for males and less for females.
So, tell me who would sell an adult pair of hets for 50% what a pied would cost?

Who knows? I spoke to a person who claims he recently purchased a 2000g PROVEN female Het Pied for only $1400 cash. In fact, he claims he's had a LOT of deals like this...
I guess anything's possible.

Not tryin' to start an arguement here, but from what I've seen pricewise the female is more expensive than the male in most morphs. I've found pairs of 100% het albinos for 800-900 bucks online and one female albino run about 2100. Maybe pieds are different.

You just compared an albino female to a pair of hets. If you're going to say that females are more expensive than males, at least compare an albino male to an albino female, LOL! Which, in this case, they are about the same. But in the case of these pieds, males pieds right now are way more expensive.
But you are right. Recessive hets of most morphs have more expensive females. For obvious reasons.
LOL OK I'll stay outta this one. I've not dwelt into the specifics of dominant, co-dominant and ressesive to far just yet. Just have two normals that I've grown attached to over the years. I like the looks of both pieds and albinos, and sooner or later will acummulate a few. Maybe I'll just sit in the corner and read and learn.
Truth is, Leucs make me crazy. I like solid white in all snake breeds.
But in the not too distant future, a pair of het albinos will be very very reasonable to the average herper, so maybe your hopes aren't too far off man!
Perhaps he was trying to point out that a pair of het albinos is less than half the price of a visible albino. Someone pointed out that this pair of het pieds would also be about half the price of a visible pied. However, the big difference is that the pair of het albinos for that price are probably hatchlings and some expect a pair of 2002 het pieds to be breeding size.
"But in the case of these pieds, males pieds right now are way more expensive."
Why is that? Is it true that pieds tend to grow slowly? What about hets? I could see that impacting females more than males since they need to grow more to reach their larger breeding size. Maybe the 2002 het pied female is nowhere near breeding size.
You never really know, I know breeders don't want to admit to doing it, but since I've started acquiring my snakes for future breedings these past couple of weeks I've managed to get most of the breeders to drop thier prices significantly on some of the snakes I've picked up. What was it last week someone picked up a breedable pair of pastels for $2K from someone who really needed the cash. I would definately double check and triple check references and paperwork, but wierder things have happened. Then there's the possiblity that maybe this person just doesn't know the value of their animals. Or it's a scam! Crazy business!

You need to consider that asking price and selling price are two different things. Especially, if you are not well-known. A couple years ago, I could not give away 100% het albinos. So I sold them through another breeder for twice what I was asking for them. Go figure.

That would NOT be a breeder. That would be someone who had poor management of money and/or bad luck at this point in their life. Yes, there are GREAT deals to be had by pouncing on people in a jam. For sure. Just like ANYTHING IN LIFE. But don't go around thinking you'll get quality breeders to drop their prices by 50% because they need the business. At least not around here. I produced 442 snakes this year and I could have produced double and still sold out.

I never said he got it from a breeder. I said that I got several breeders to significantly drop thier prices for the snakes I got. He got his from someone who needed the money not a breeder.

www.jefffavelle.com - That's the 2004 version, LOL! should have the updated version with the new projects and updated breedings within the next 2 weeks.
Thanks man!
Jeff.... I don't mean to start anything but I went to your site and noticed you refered to WILD CAUGHT as GARBAGE, Did you know that EVERY Snake/REPTILE we keep as pets Originated from the WILD TYPE. Did you ALSO know that MOST of the BETTER morphs CAME FROM THE WILD(IE, PLatty Daddy, Albino, PIED, Yellow belly, ETC.). So I believe for you to say that about WILD Caught as GARBAGE is NOT something YOU should have on YOUR WEBSITE since. ALL OF YOUR snakes are of wild line somewhere. In my opinion fresh wild collected snakes are a pain in the butt, And that is because they are used to being in certain conditions that WE cannot simulate, and when we get it right the WILD stuff does just fine. I just don't like the people that BASH wild collected stuff since we need the NEW BLOOD to make sure we don't INBREED to much. If we never entered NEW WILD STOCK into the already esablished stock we would eventually get a bunch of retarted snakes....But this is JUST MY OPINION. I just would call Wild Stuff Garbage. Maybe use another Phrase. Like explaining that captive born MIGHT have a better chance of FEEDing than a wild collected IMPORT. But anyway See ya later. Thanks DAVID
I failed to see this "question" you were asking, only you stating your opinion on how wild caught animals are good.
I never said that all the morphs didn't come from the wild. The ADVERTISEMENT on MY website is to state for people new to the hobby not to get caught up in the cheap imports that some pet stores bring in and to get the right snake first to make it a successful acquisition.
Is this bad "snakebstr"? Are you suggesting that people buy wild caught over captive bred? Please explain. Obviously the people that are in the know would buy a new morph if it was wild caught and they knew that they could establish it. But then again, those people wouldn't be reading people's thoughts on wild caught and worrying about it. My god man, think. If you're suggesting that people buy wild caught Chondros and boas and Ball Pythons INSTEAD of a captive-produced one, then okaaaayyyy more power to ya.
Imagine, a captive breeder of snakes marketing and advertising captive bred snakes! Wow, what a novelty!
NOT PREACHING ...JEFF....I just noticed you don't like IMPORTED GARBAGE...... I disn't think the WORD GARBAGE is a good word for ANY ball python.... Thanks DAVID

Thatz just dumm!
Especially when used in a sentence like that! Maybe inbreeding was the cause? LOL!
Pete Kahl had a pair of ADULT Het pieds in Daytona for like 4000-4500.00, And I mean these were large adults. I should have bought them they would have bred this winter, But I was to busy paying for my Spider, Pied, Albino, 1.1 Pastels, and 100% het female. So another 4500.00 was OUT of the question. But I did manage to get a few super kool looking normal females on top of all of the high dollar ITEMs. And I still had a girlfriend at the end of the show....LOL. Thanks DAVID
