Repti-Sand

jonnyalbino Jan 18, 2005 02:56 PM

Im relativly new to raising geckos i have 2 leopard geckos.

Well anyways in my juvenille (only 3 inches) albinos cage i bought something called repti-sand it feels like playground sand, and what i have read is that you shouldnt put playground sand in a juvenille's cage, because of digestion of the sand i was just wondering if i should change it or if it is fine the way it is. I hope someone can help.

What you read is correct. Use paper towels until your leo is an adult. If you search this forum you'll find a lot of info and discussion on this subject. There's a lot of different opinions on using sand as a substrate but everyone I think is in agreement on one thing: Don't put baby leos on sand! lay white paper towels down on the floor of his cage. ok? good!

Sand is really bad for juvies in general. I would take it out until they get bigger. I made that huge mistake and it cost my gecko's life.
