Windex with Vinegar

spazmo Jan 18, 2005 03:01 PM

Hello everyone! I have been reading the uromastyx forum for about 2 weeks now, and just decided to join. I was just curious if any of you knew if Windex made with vinegar is safe to use in my mali's enclosure. I haven't bought any yet, b/c I was a bit apprehensive. I looked on Windex's website, but the ingredients threw me off a little bit. There was no ammonia listed, which is good, but I don't know about the rest. I clean his enclosure once a week with Zoo-Meds Wipe-Out 1, but it leaves streaks, so I usually use a water/vinegar/alcohol mixture that I found by Mellisa Kaplan. Thanks!

Personally, I would stick with Melissa's mix. I have not recently looked at the ingredient of Windex with Vinegar, but generally speaking the addition of thinks like Vinegar is more for the marketing that a representation of a change in the chemicals used. I know that it still isn't safe to use on fish tanks, so my gut reaction would be to steer clear of it with the Uro tanks as well. That is just my gut reaction though, it may be completely off base.

if streaks bother you i would stick with the mix you have. i know my 85 year old grandma still uses nothing but a water/vinegar mix, i guess alcohol is in there too, i have never really asked, and her windows are spotless
