Tub Size For BP rack?

Ses01 Jan 18, 2005 09:35 PM

Hello. What would be a good size tub for adult male BP's for a rack? I'm building my own (planning to), and need the help. Thanks a lot.

Ses01

PS- I was looking at the Sterilite 1856 tubs. They are about 22 3/4" long, 5 1/2" high, and 15 3/4" wide. Would these be good?

I'm either going to use:

Sterilite # 1960 Tubs 34 1/2" L x 16 1/2" W x 5 5/8" H

or

CB 70: Dimensions: 33 1/2"L x 17 3/4"W x x 6"H

A good rule to follow is: the length of the snake should be equal to or less than the short side added to the long side of the box. That size would be fine for about a 3 ft snake.

Now - having said that, sometimes the snake prefers a smaller box and can go off feeding when you move it to a larger one. I just went thru that with my male pastel and have also had that happen with corns. So in order to keep the little boogers happy you may want to design your rack to hold several different sized boxes.

Good luck with your project
Cheryl
