This pic was taken to show the difference in "anal scutes" to demonstrate how to easily sex adults. The male is on the left.. and depending on the geographic location of origin.. they could get somewhat larger. "Most" imports these days (unless Venezuela.. smaller) will max out at 15" or so.
The male shown is 10".. the female a little more than 11".. pic is deceiving..

I've been "misunderstood" (at best) by my anal scute "sexing" method. Some actually have denied seeing any difference in the anal scutes of the leopard youngsters.. time will definitely tell on those.
Redfoot tortoises take a while to sex.. these 6" are still questionable. The tail size and anal scute "widening" of the males is one of the first signs.. along with the concave plastron (belly) and then the subtle "hour-glass" shape of the males.. observed from directly above.
And there have been those that have confused many by their "tail-size ONLY" method.. the 4" Stars.. case in point!
Can you post belly pics of your Redfoot(s)? It's always easier of course when we have 2 to compare. See link below!
