Don't forget the Miniature Eurasians....

Terry Cox Jan 19, 2005 05:34 AM

Although I don't keep many Asians anymore, I'll always have a place in my heart for them, and will contribute when I can. Here's what I have left in my collection, as far as species go, and as someone said, most of them are pretty small, so don't require that much space. Chinese Twin-spotted Ratsnake.....

A South Korean Dione's Ratsnake....

A Mandarin Ratsnake from Sichuan Province stock....

One of my Chinese Beauty Snakes, but I'm going to have to get rid of all my specimens of this species within the next 3 or 4 yrs....

Sorry most of you have seen these pics before, but I didn't have time or the pics to put new ones up. I'm off to work again.

Regards, all....TC

Thanks. It's just because we're moving on and the taeniura don't fit into our plans as well as the others. On the one hand our collection is evolving all the time, and we sometimes add species, and on the other it has to decrease so we have enough room and time to take care of our animals well. We're adjusting to future conditions. We'll be retiring to Arizona in less than four years and don't have enough room there for everything. The taeniura are our largest snake and also don't fit into our plans as well as the others. It's a great snake and I hate to give it up, but sometimes you sacrifice one thing to have another. Hopefully, we'll get to breed both mutations before we go to get to see what they look like out of the egg. Thanks for asking....

Why are you going to get rid of the beauty snakes? But when ever you are going to do it, please let us know. Hehe

Don't worry, Belle, I'll let you know.

The main reason is that we are moving to Arizona in less than four years. I'm going to try to keep them long enough to breed the calicos and hypos and finish those projects. We've always had some problems with the space and also the amt of time it takes to care for the number of snakes I have. In AZ we'll have less space, and the taeniura are my largest snakes at this time.

I'm also in the process of changing direction with my interests in the hobby. I've decided to concentrate on the best pets and also more localized species, U.S./Mexican. Central to my collection will probably be the guttatus complex snakes and kingsnakes. I'm still hanging on to a few Asian species too.

Beauty snakes are a great species and I wish the best for keepers of any of them. If we had retired in Michigan I would keep them, 'cus they fit in better here. I hope my snakes can get into some good hands someday.
