Today is that ritual of passing the torch from one administration to another. Of course since this is the same president there is a certain lack of excitement (been there- done that).
This time it is a time of war. One thinks back to FDR deep in the fight of WW2. His inaugeration was a reletively simple affair. A small ceramoney and a luncheon at the White House.
Things have changed....
Our "Newly reelected president has opted for the most expensive inaugeration in history. The $40,000,000 plus 4 day affair is just another reflection of the glory seeking that this man (who would be savior) approved to pad his allready over blown ego.
If your a Bush lover, you might think he deserves it. Personally with a war on, several disasters occuring stateside and Social Security in trouble-not to mention the tsunami victims, I think he would have gotten better props if that "Partying money" had been spent on something useful.
But then...he wouldn't have his show....

"The luxury of not getting involved departed with the last lifeboat Skipper..."

My theory is that most of us voted for him because he didn't have a competitor that we could feel right about VOTING for. Kerrys terrible record in the senate, his touting of his involvement in a past war (which couldn't be verified in a positive light for him), and his loud mouth, rich, weird, batty wife (I'll never buy another Heinz product) assured that bush would win. Politicians and bureaucrats waste money, that's what they do, that's what they know HOW to do, and it seems that's ALL they know how to do. I don't wonder why there are no decent people in politics anymore. It's MY theory that no one of any intelligence or common sense would WANT to be a useless, idiot bureaucrat. That's why we keep getting nitwits, ninnies, bozos and (fill in something) as "politicians". Seems to be how they're defined now
