Hey Jeff Favelle

I'm curious about some things. I have been reading your posts for some time and by all indications, you make this biz sound super easy and I (everyone) should be turning a hefty profit. While I do find most of your posts are good, some I question.

You recently posted you had 400 animals (last year) and sold out and could have easily doubled that and sold out. Every large breeder and most small breeders I know have left-overs year after year. Many, not even producing "your numbers". What is "your" secret? What do you know that most of the other breeders don't? Why are the ads on Kingsnake repeated while your animals disappear in a wink of an eye? And are the animals listed on your website still available (hence, not sold out) or are you just blowing smoke? With all the reptiles you have sold, I only found two positive replies in the forum that shall not be named (which was just Canadian). Hell, I have considerably more positive replies than that and I produce much less than you say you do.

Please don't take this as a personal attack, but in my 37 years of life, I've learned a few things and in my mind, you raise a few flags. But if you are legit, I apologize and I'd really like to know how you're doing it so I can share in the wealth.

Jeff is who he says he is, he has what he says he has he's produced what he's said he's produced and he's sold what he's said he's sold. I've bought from him. I know him and he's legit and honest. His animals speak for them selves.

As for things being easy for Jeff, they are. That's because he's got a huge brass horseshoe up his.... :D lol j/k

My 2 cents.

If you do some research, you'll see that Canadians use the Board of Inquiry about 1/10,000th the amount that Yankees do. We have our own site in Canada that cannot be named here due to kingsnake not allowing other forums to be posted, but its EASY to find. That's where I hang out and that's where all my ads take place. I use my kingsnake account once in a while, but I sell most of my stuff through the Canadian sites. Plus, about half the stuff goes to Japan and Germany. Out of 442 snakes, 4 went to the United States last year. Most in the US don't realize it, because they only know what's within their borders, but shipping to and from the US has become a REAL pain now for CITEs, and I deal 60% in Australian animals.

Are you kidding me? There's breeders producing THOUSANDS of animals. Remember, I only have unde 50 Ball Pythons. That's not all I work with. I had 7 clutches of Jungle Carpets, 4 Rainbow Boa litters and 11 Honduran clutches. That takes a HUGE chuck out of that 442 number. Ball Pythons, while the money is insane, are just not as fun to work with, so I don't limit myself as a Ball breeder.

But 400 animals is a DROP in the pan compared to some breeders. Especially the boa breeders where 40 baby litters can happen.

You are posting on the BP forum. Several of your posts even get specific - remember the 12 egg BP clutch comment? You are right. I had boas. At 40 young, and $50 each, you can produce many and sell all. But again, the context of all these discussions have been about BPs. Other people who have been asking for advice about "making a living" posted here at the BP forum, not boas or colubrids.
