I read that link that PHEve gave me,on impaction..my question is this, how do I get him to take fluids from a dropper? I'm not kidding LOL Do I pry his mouth open,or will he just take it on his own. I'm scared I'll hurt him. I know,I sound sooo inexperanced,well...I AM this is my first sick Lizard.
Any help would be greatly apperated. I'm just sick with worry over my lil guy.
Thanks!!

If he licks this, he will start licking his lips at which time you keep adding drops. If not, you will have to grasp him tightly behind the head, and rub his lip, close to the ear. sometimes, this will make them open right up. Start by putting a drop near his lip. You DONT want to shoot fluid down his throat, as it could get into his lungs. Be patient with it.

Where did this lizard come from?? I used to breed some that produced offspring that look identical to those. I had some babies that would have some sort of seizure then the legs would be funny.

I was at this Watermellon Festivel(in Alabama),and this guy had a reptile setup there. He was selling the babies(Collareds) for 10.00 and adults for 15.00 He had like 15-20 babies in a 10 gallon tank. And had some REALY pretty adults. He had all kinds of other reptiles also, but this lil guy that I bought, had won me over. He was sooo tiny and cute. He was just barley 2 inches when i bought him.

Anyhow,I tried the letting the water drip on his lips, but his mouth was like it was sealed shut. He just wasn't going to open.
I went ahead and gave him another warm bath.
How many times a day do you all think I should soak him in warm water?
Thinks for all the advise guys!!!

Have you ever heard of Russellville Al? Its North West Bama.
Probably not,uh? What about Florance? Russellville is about 20 miles south of Florance. They hold the Festival every year towards the end of Aug.
I thought about contacting the Chamber of Comerance there, and seeing if they have a list of the people that had set up there. And seeing if I couldn't find out who the guy was that had all the Reptiles, and see about getting a mate for my lil guy.
Anyhow,I'll try and find the Russellville website link, and it has the info there about the festivel.

When I feed mine from a dropper (or the tip of a syringe w/o the needle) I usually just put one drop of the food/liquid on the lizard's "lips." He will probably lick it off right away. If not, turn your hand or rotate your body from side to side. For some reason, and I don't quite know why, this will usually stimulate them to lick. (It is rarely, if ever, necessary for me to have to pry the mouth open.) Then, once they start licking it you just keep putting drops on the lips and the lizard will drink until he needs to take a breath. Make sure you let him take a breath after a short while or he may aspirate. If he gapes and gasps then stop for a few minutes before you give him more.

I hope all that makes sense.

I do have a Mali. His name is Speedy. I have not been on that forum, though.

Are yours shy? I used to have an outgoing female that was a real sweetheart, but Speedy zips under his cave as fast as he can whenever he sees me--and I've had him for many years!

both of mine are wild caught. i know that is not good to do but one was a rescue from an evil store so i figured it cancels my regular purchase helga is the one i rescued, wild caught adult in a room temperature tank, only has three back toes. is very sweet when being held but very very nervous all the time.
hugo is a juvenile and i really don't think he would have made it out in the wild, he is very curious about everything and i am sure would have been eaten right away. hei s also very nice but very different from helga in terms of courage

My Goldie used to look like Helga in girth. She was a big, sweet lizard.

Thanks for the pics! They are a handsome pair.
