Shedding Help

Triad Jan 19, 2005 03:02 PM

Apollo's shedding his tail right now and I was wondering if there is any way to help him with it.

He's got some spikes that haven't shed so there's a little bit of a build up.

I thought I saw a post awhile ago about Mineral oil. If I put some on a q-tip and dab it on his spikes will it help him?

I make sure every time they get food I spray a little extra water on there (every time they shed just so they keep more hydrated).

Any help is appreciated.

So is it dehydration that causes bad sheds and buildup?

It's not dehydration.

They are hydrated enough as long as they get their daily greens (green beans and green peas do a terrific job holding water).

But I think putting a little more water on them before they eat helps hydrate them more, making their scales more moist.

Like with people, you drink water because we're 75% water and water is what keeps our skin healthy looking and soft.

Well, lots of skin "moisturizers" are some type of oil based product. You can take a bath and add water to your skin but it will just then dry off. Water is a necessity for metabolism and other internal processes.

Luckily I do not have to use lotions/moisturizers for my skin. It's soft enough as is, but that's what comes with giving up soda completely for the past year(drink enough water a day and you won't have to use a moisturizer at all, that's what comes with not drinking soda).

Our skin repells the water, but when we drink it, every little muscle and every little cell in our body will absorb it for all its worth.
