Personally, I don't mix species and don't recommend the practice. BUT, with that said, Nigerians and Malis are two that are supposed to tolerate each other as cagemates fairly readily. If you end up with little ones, though, don't sell the babies without disclosing that they are mixed species.

I put princess(the nigerian) in the cage after reading some stuff from deerfern and they are ok so far.

i don't think princess is niger, b/c she's not red all over just kinda lined and a spot on her nose. Yoshi has a short and fat tail, Princess has a long skinny tail. Did a yahoo search found a picture of a mali that looked like Princess. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Nigerian/Saharan/geyri... mine have a small row of scales that descend from their upper lip overlapping their lower lip back towards the jaw joint. If you can get a closeup of the face, that should be fairly distinguishing. You can see them here starting just behind the black streak. My hardwickiis faces are built very differently but I haven't seen any other variety up close. Some of the books out there have the secific traits listed...
Female nigerians are often sort of brownish with very little red (or yellow, I guess). My female is mostly muddy brown with hints of coral-red in her bands and on certain scales. Nigerians have longer, thinner tails compared to Malis, so that supports that she IS Nigerian. Here's a recent picture of my female Nigerian to show the not-very-vibrant coloring.

It would not be wise because the nigerians tend to like it a bit cooler and like more water. I know some people that have tried to keep them the same as the mali's and were having them dying left and right.
