congrats
I'm with you on that, Dragoon. The photograph should be labelled:
The 'Before' Scene of a Terrible Accident
I hope he posts photos of the 'After' scene when it eventually happens, as I think a lot of monitor owners would learn from it.
'Genuspython', before you post that your monitor is 'tame' or that you have special handling skills blah blah blah, all I can say is this: It's not my hand, you do what you want with it.
On the other hand, perhaps the monitor has already eaten so much that it no longer has the typical monitor feeding response, or isn't warmed up from basking, yet. I've never dealt with croc monitors, but seeing this photo and the ones posted by rope/billy, I'm beginning to think they have less of a maniacal feeding response than lace monitors. If I tried this trick with my 'tamest' animal I'd be raw with claw marks up my chest as it raced up to get the food, I'd be missing a finger or two from the aerial lunges for the food and at some stage the tip of my nose would go if I happened to move my head even slightly just as the monitor went in for the 'kill'.
