bp with bleeding mouth

cee4 Jan 19, 2005 06:14 PM

This morning I was changing my girls water and taking out her shed, so I always check them after a shed to make sure everything came off good and her mouth started bleeding. At first I thought she had bit off one of the forks of her tongue but it was just stuck to the other from the wet blood. A few drop came out the very front where her tongue comes out then it tapered off and quit..Could she have bit herself, I took her out of her hide box (which is just cardboard on the cool side) so I dont think she could have poked herself with a sharp bit of cypress mulch...Anyway, I didnt force her mouth open since it did quit bleeding I thought I saw a small wound on her tongue but cant be sure as it was flicking in and out so fast. Should I just let it go and keep a check on her every day to make sure its not getting infected? BTW, she hasnt eaten in about a month so it wasnt feeding related.

Might want to force her mouth open to make sure everthing looks good in there. Maybe stomatitis (mouth rot), or maybe she just bit her tounge...happens to me every once in awhile, but I've never seen it happen to a snake.
