Weird symptoms. What is it?

My WC common garter snake had mites. I treated with 1 to 64 ratio NIX/water snake and enclosure. Mites are gone but sections of the bottom of the snakes mouth spasm open from time to time and he exibits mild jerky head movements when being handled. Any ideas?

Many insecticides cause neurological problems when overdosed. I'm unfamiliar with the concentration needed for this product.
