Gravid or Consipated?

crocmonitor Jan 19, 2005 08:56 PM

I have 2 Croc monitors, possibly 3-4years old, been in captivity a little over a year. I have not sexed them, one is massively fat and lathargic, hes been progressivly getting larger and more lathargic. His tail is not getting thin and it was really thick. He will eat a little, but not like he used to. He has been growing in the stomach area for months, could he/she be constipated for that long and still be alive?

or is it a she and Gravid?

I have not seen any poop in his cage and ive soaked him many time without seeing stool.

If eating and not defecating for that long you have a problem for sure. Take to your vet who will examine and most likely X-ray your monitor.
