Dramatic lighting....

lol it was unintentional but this pic looks like some eggs hatching with a ray of warm sunshine coming thru the canopy or something. Its actually a flashlight I used in a pinch for extra light. Oh well nice effect maybe I'll try and refine it.

This is a great shot! I like that lighting, but what really catches my eye are the wet bubbles around the hatchling. How great that you were there to capture this moment on film!

Keith, I like the lighting in this picture. As you say, very dramatic - the theme from Space Odyssey would be an appropriate accompaniment.

I was wondering how it would look without the bright egg to the left of the hatching snake so I took the liberty of cropping it out and reposting it here for the sake of discussion. I think it focuses attention more strongly on the hatchling. The lighting gradient as you go up the egg towards the snakes head is great. What do you think?

Beautiful little baby, BTW. Is it a NJ?

Yeah its a little NJ. Yeah it looks good cropped and does focus more on the snake emerging. I wish when taking the pics I realized how well that light had looked and taken more as this one is a bit fuzzy. Oh well I try it again this season.
