Still not eating.

JAG Jul 05, 2003 10:06 AM

OK let me update you guys/girls. Remember ally wasnt eating. So I was told to buy some turkey baby food. So I did. Mixed a little of her miner-all in and have struggiling wit her to eat even that. Its a constint fight. I feed her with a syringe and she licks a little off her nose then she wipes the rest on me. I have been feed her like this for a few days, but she is still dropping the weight. Im scared now. She weighed 5.5 now shes at 4.8 and thats with me trying to feed her every few hours. Im still trying to have her eat a cricket/silkworms/mealworms, anything, and she wont. I hear the albino when they are little are very picky eaters, is this true. And what else can I try to make her eat. I did the same thing raising my male and he is flourishing like nothing, and a very healthy eater, and getting longer/fatter each day. What am i doing wrong?

Keep trying, she will eventually eat. My albino though won't touch crickets, she will only eat mealworms, and now she has stopped eating them, and now LOVES super worms, it's like she just gets tired of the same food and wants a huge variety. I'm not sure what else you could do though, besides just keep trying, I'm sorry I couldn't be more help. My albino didn't eat when I first got her for about a month, and now she is a hog...just kept trying. Have you tried taking all the hides out of her tank and just putting in a cricket or a mealie...with the hides out. That is what I had to do to get my albino to eat.

I'm sorry to hear that she isn't doing well ...but the vet said she was fine???. If she continues to lose wieght and still refuses to eat, you may have to start "forcefeeding" her bug slurries every other night. When my leo stopped eating for a month, I started to feed him by taking a mealworm and aggrivating him enough for him to open his mouth in protest and would pop the mealie in far enough to trigger the chewing and swallowing response. Mind you, it is a stressful way of assisted feeding but he came around eventually. You could try doing this with her, only with the syringe full of formula. Good luck with her!!!

I have tried to give her bug slurry, and nothing, she either licks some (not a lot) and then wipes the rest on me, just like the turkey baby food. If i try to force feed her a mealie, she just turns her head over and rubs it against my hand. Im going to keep trying just dont want to hurt her, or put to much stress on her.
