Shell indents at rear legs

dubsd Jan 20, 2005 11:10 AM

Hello All

Just wondering if any one else has some deformities in their animals shell. We have had Churchill since she(didn't now at the time) was very young. I have feed all the appropriate dietary needs. Mix up what she eats on a regular basis. Given vitamin and calcium suppliments and have had her for about 8 years. She is doing very well and eats like a horse. I had her to the vet about 2 years ago as she got pneumia as I had built a new cage for her and the heat was not effiecent for the new space. She has recovered and had the shell dents before. Everything else about her seems normal. The vet thought she had some type of trama when she was younger, I don't recall any. Just wondering if anyone else had any thing to say.

Hard to say from the discription. Can you provide a photo? That would really help.

Does the shell have a peanut-like shape? If so, you have a male tortoise.
