Does bran weigh considerably less than sand?
Where do you buy it?
Does it need to be frozen first to kill off any bugs?

We use playground sand now, and was looking for a lighter weight solution, as we are building bigger cages for bigger breeding projects. I don't want to have to change out the sand in a 2'x4'x3' cage. It's hard enough in my 2'x2' cages.

yes bran weighs a lot less then sand

you can buy it from your local feedstore, just look up livestock or feed supplies in the phone book

youll stil have to change it out every 2-3 months (providing you do daily cleaning of feces and vegetable matter etc)
