my first question, is i was told that its ok to breed a smaller female to a larger male, but i know i tend to hear larger female to smaller male in reptiles.

The size difference is kinda significant, which is why i am asking. my male is aobut 5 inches around in his largest part, and about 5 ft, give or take a few inches (hold still is NOT in his vocab!)and takes small rats which barely leave a lump anymore. the female is an adult about half as thick as the male. I don't know her exact measurements, shes being picked up from hand picked herps tomorrow (reguardless of whether or not shes large enough to breed now, shes really pretty) and she will go into what i think is a 20 or 25 gallon, its 2ftx1ft and about 16 in tall, from the outside. Now, if shes ok to breed with our male, i have a few questions about breeding, which at least i can apply to next year when shes much bigger!

She's immediatly going to go into a dark side room to be cooled. I intend to do this until mid to late feb, is this an appropriate amount of time? she's already fairly fat, and i was told that she should probably get one more feeding, but im unsure if i should try to feed her immediatly, or...? the room is about the same as it is outside, just sort of "takes the edge off" of hte extremes. since i live in lehigh, fl, this means aprox 55-65 degrees. should i include any form of basking spot at all? i've never heard mention of one during the cooling period, but i really dont know. Is it ok to do the cooling in the same cage she will habitate? Do i need to cool the male as well? after being warmed back up, should i resume feeding, or wait until after attempted breeding? thats all i have right now, naturally in the next couple days as i start to gather supplies and whatnot, i'll have about 3 thousand more...
