yes, I think they're better than most lights on the market...
mostly because you can keep it on all day and night without disrupting their sleep cycles (and convieniently without disrupting yours... I don't know about you guys, but the creepy red glow from infared bulbs keeps me up at night)
My suggestion for what it's worth: purchase one of those dimmer switches and install it into your lamp hood that you're using (if you don't know how to safely do that...then don't... ask someone who knows how to...it involves stripping the wires on your hood) Then you can adjust the temperature of the cage easily depending on the time of day/season... right now in winter, hers is on full blast, but in the summer, it's rarely ever on.
I also pair hers with a basking light right next to it, just for a little added heat to her basking area.
