Finally picked up a female Lineatus...

boy Jan 20, 2005 06:57 PM

It took nearly a month but I found a female and picked her up today. We'll see where it goes from here. She had been in with a male and had been bred by him atleast once. The big down fall though, is that she dropped her tail in my hand while I waited for a box to put her in. She seemed to have a regrown tail as it was. Still one good looking animal. she's slightly on the thick side. Anyways, if anyone has some info they want to share regarding females let me know.

cheers,
Jason

the only thing that i've noticed with mine is that she's constantly about 10-15 grams larger than the males, and seems to stay hydrated better. i'm going to try what someone suggested and separate the males from the female for a bit and re-introduce them and raise the temps a bit along with more food and higher humidity all and once. as i've mentioned before, the males aren't very responsive to her tail waving etc.

that sucks that she dropped her tail in your hand, its weird how they'll do that with minimal threat. back a couple of months ago when one of my male satanics got his leg stick thru the screen, he was obviously in pain and i thought for sure he was gonna drop his tail but he held onto it for both of our sakes. since lineatus are a bit larger i hope it will be less of a problem keeping her stable, so since she looks good otherwise hopefully that will keep her on the up and up. and youll get to experience the regrowth of her tail, which should be a neat experience, given the circumstances. good luck with her and all those fims and such you recently picked up, its hit that point in the season where a lot of people are having luck, so maybe you'll even get some eggs out of her soon.
