snakes and dogs

bipolishfalcon Jan 20, 2005 07:14 PM

I'm looking into getting a ball python and was wondering if having a dog in the house would be a problem. The snake would not be kept in a room that the dog has access to. I'm wondering more if the dog would be able to smell the snake or vice versa on me. If anyone has any experience with reptiles and dogs or any advice on the matter that would be greatly apreciated.

well i have 5 snakes, my mom and gma have 5 dogs. all the snakes are in my bedroom, however all the dogs will come up here from one point to another. never have bothered them. in fact they never seem to notice them unless i have one out. and in that case i try not to let the dogs around.

i have 5 snakes, 2 dogs, 6 house cats. all live in harmony. i do lock the cats out of the room when i have a snake out and the dogs just hang out on the bed. neither the dogs or snakes have a problem with each other.(of course i keep the snakes at a safe distance from the dogs.)
