Well, it looks like he settles down some once he's out and about. Good looker by the way.

He doesn't look so bad! Glad to see you conquered your fear. He will probably grow up to be a real sweetheart.

use a stick/snake stick to assist you in getting him out. he'll start to realize its all good to be picked up. mine still hisses but never strikes.

Well I tried getting him out again, when i walked by to get the tongs, he striked at me twice, so i decided just to leave him alone, i know hes not hungry he just ate 2 days ago.

Just keep tryin. Eventually he'll settle in and get used to you. Even if ya get nipped once er twice, he's not so big that he'll do any real damage. Once he realizes you aren't gonna eat him he should calm down. I have a small (6 ft.) retic that will strike at, but not bite, me every time I open the cage. After a few minutes outside the cage he calms down though. Just be persistant.

i had a little baby that was just VICIOUS for awile (he died of complications related to a birth deformity) The trick always was to fool him with your other hand so you could grab him w/o being bit. it was probably easier with him since he was missing an eye, but im sure you can learn to get yours from behind as well. until i got the hang of it, using gloves kept the biting from hurting me. Just had to hang tight for a few minutes, then he would just happily slither around.

Looking through your posts I noticed that you have a Cockatoo....Burms love birds....love to EAT birds, and baby Burms are ALWAYS hungry!!!So my question is: How close is the bird's cage to the Burm's,and are you trying to handle the Burm after handling the parrot? If he can smell the bird,he's going to react accordingly(bite the first warm thing that comes in his cage!)!! I know a few people who have made the same mistake: clean the bird, guinea pig, rabbit's cage, and then handle their burm.....the stories all ended the same, bloody!
Anyway,it's just one thought. Also, alot of baby Burms(most baby snakes actually)are defensive. If you were a bite sized snake being grabbed by a giant predator, you'd probably be a little defensive too!!LOL!!
GOOD LUCK!

Do you know what's the last time he shed? I know a normally calm gopher snake who gets pretty cranky when he sheds. Not even when his eyes are blue, but after that and before the actual shed so it's hard to tell.
