Herping in Ct

parselmouth Jan 20, 2005 08:58 PM

Can anyone give me any advice on collecting snakes in ct. I've never collected my own snakes before. What kind of snakes are native to the southwestern ct area.

Up here in Massachusetts, we have a great site with a bit of info on every native snake:

I've been looking for similar sites for CT, NH, VT, and RI to see what kind of herping I could do there, but I haven't found a thing.
However, considering our (pretty much) identical climate, I can only assume our snakes are about the same as yours.

If I'm not mistaken the the only difference is a lack of one or two species. I do not beleive you have anything that we lack...but again, I can't be certain.
