cant decide on new snake...

cactuskent Jul 05, 2003 11:15 AM

i cant decide which snake i wanna buy,ive basically gotta choose from a hatchling amel corn, a full grown snow corn, or a ball python[roal python uk] i can see goods and bads in everyone, basically,i would prefer an amel corn over a snow, but i dont wanna wait for it to grow to a decent size for like 2 yrs!thats why ive been wanting at least a yearling corn, the snow corn is ok,but i dunno. and the ball python is very impressive a lovely snake, but i hear they can have feeding difficulties sometimes, and its colours are not as impressive as a corn..decisons decisions

I have a corn snake, a ball python and a western hognose. I promised myself that I would only get one snake at first. That was the cornsnake. I bet you anything you end up getting more than one kind of snake soon enough.

My advice is that you spend as much time as possible choosing the best looking one out of a large selection. You are going to have that snake for a very long time!

thank, yea ive been narrowing my choice down for a long time now,and now i cant decide between ball python and corn snake, which one do you prefer???? has your ball had any eating troubles?

If it were up to me, I'd go with the corn. But that's just me; I don't know a whole lot about ball pythons. In any case, there should be LOTS of other options out there! King snakes are among my personal favorites, the only down sides being that they have to be kept in separate enclosures from all other snakes (cannabilistic), and they are notorious escape artists! michaelb

I like ball pythons, but a corn edges the ball python out. YMMV.

If you don't like the choices you presently have, wait a while longer til you find what you really want.
