rquest for N. g. splendida pics

dingoblue Jan 20, 2005 10:13 PM

I have an 04 male that is taking fuzzies, and is getting more interesting with each shed. Does anyone else work with this subspecies, and can they give me some observations of their husbandry and behaviors of their animals?

Also, pics are appreciated.

They seem to be an underrated king to work with, but I do see some at reptile shows on occasion. Their lateral and dorsal contrasts make them interesting, as well as the coloration on their heads and necks. We could call them "blackhead" kings, and perhaps their popularity would rise.

One of these days, I'l get some shots of my collection on digital cam.

Thanks.

Neil

I do not know what a N. g. splendida is but here is a pic of my wildcaught Aransas Co., TX L. g. splendida. They show alot of Holbrooki influence in Aransas Co. since there is a large intergrade zone between Holbrooki and Splendida.
They are great animals to work with. There are albino and hypo morphs becoming more available and soon there will be double hets for snow. I hear of some Anery splendida so there soon will be double hets for snow and ghost splendida.
Their are also many morphs coming out of Holbrooki like the lavenders, albinos and new whitesided Specks. I think in the not so distant future we shall see all morphs as in Brooksi with both Splendida and Holbrooki.

I have this Aransas Co. female and a pair of Nueces Co. Splendida as well.

They are being brumated now, but I will get some shots of them today when I do my weekly checkup and re-watering.

I meant L and typed N, lol.

Thanks for the pics. Integrades are interesting, as splendida has a fairly large and overlapping range. Adult pics are interesting as well. I hope my 04 male will be high contrast.

I appreciate everyone's input.

Neil
