Fertility probability question ...

xelabou Jan 21, 2005 01:35 PM

I want to know the probability of succesfull fertile eggs if:
Female brumate during 6 weeks AND Male don't brumate

All I know is that THE only MALE collared available in my city was returned to pet shop from a very bad client.
The pet shop guy told me that the past owner of that collared havn't feeded him well for three months.
He garanteed me that he's healthy again since they get it back (1 month) ... eating silkworms daily.

Am I right that it's dangerous to brumate the male ?
Consider that I havnt bought it yet !

So, the question is about probability of fertile eggs if male doesnt brumate because my female is on its way for a long sleep.

I'm not sure of the probablity but it could happen. I've had some collareds breed after niether of them brumated and had fertile eggs. I didn't brumate my C. nebrius this year to see if they'd still mate. My female has gotten orange bars and looks gravid but I'm wondering if it's a late clutch from a 2004 mating. Good luck
