Help!!!!! My ball pythons are mating!!!!!

RoadSpawn Jan 21, 2005 02:25 PM

Hello
I was given a male adult ball python in the month of December. Quite large but hasn't eatten yet. Yesterday I was at my local pet store. A women came in with a large adult female ball python. I took it and brought her home. I fed the female a rat and tried to feed the male but he wasn't interested. This morning I found them mating. What do I do now? Is it possible for her to get gravid even if she wasn't cycled? I don't know their history....HELP...
Robert

Sometimes ball pythons do recreational breeding.....and then you might get eggs.
I have a female 2000 albino bred to an axanthic and and albino for two years and no eggs......yes I saw them breed.

I'm kinda confused. You were at the pet-shop and a woman came in with a female. Next thing: you bring the female home. How'd you get a hold of her?

I did not get a female.

You should have the new snake in quarentine..... if the new snake has any disease or parasites it does not transmit to the snake/snakes you already have. Too late now, I guess. Keep a good observation over the two snakes for parasites or ill symptoms. Don't worry about breeding just yet, their health should be more important. Good luck.

That should read... if the new snake has any disease or parasites it could transmit to the snake/snakes you already have.
