Roach Food

stittingham Jan 21, 2005 03:00 PM

Hey I have not noticed my roaches eating. I have about 20. There humidity is about 75-80 and there temp is 90 on the hot side 70 on the cool side. They get plenty of water because the sides are just wet enough not to drip down and creat puddles on the bottom of the aquarium. I want to know what everyone is feeding and how they prepare it. Thanks always for your help and have a good weekend.

Eric,
I suggest lowering the humidity - and evening the temperature out. We keep most of our winged roaches around 90 degrees where the egg crates are (the warm end). At the cooler end, we place cups of food and watering gel. There is no need for water drops on the side of your enclosure.

We feed a high protein mixture that we make. We have been offering it for sale on KS for some months too - check the "Feed" ads. We won't use chick feed - as most of it is medicated for the poultry industry. Some folks use a good dry dog food and veggies - but the dog food has fillers too. Koi pellets are better than dry dog food.

Good luck with your little colony... watch for white specks which soon turn reddish brown - babies!!

Hey Randy!!!!!
Dragons are doing good... still have 2 of your males.
We have about 50 now - and still looking for a white male for our white girl. When you going to send more offers... LOL

By all means - give the Bug Boundary a try. We even use it for the baby chameleon tubs - it keeps the flightless fruitflies in!! It also keep ants out of cages if painted on the frame legs. Just give us a shout.

your humidity is a bit high. You run the risk of fungus. They breed best at a temp of 87. Due to the quantity I have, I feed chick feed and fresh fruits and veggies.
