Tom, you know what they say, if you put your hand near the flames, you could get burned, err in this case, bit lol. He looks pretty pissed, what did you do, take away his girl lol? Flames look soooo awesome.

Hey Tom, what is this particular garter's range?

TomDickinson Jan 23, 2005 07:43 PM

If you mean eastern garters. They are found everywhere in the US.Except the southwest. They are in Canada also.If you mean flame morphs. There are pockets in canada, upstate new york.and ohio. But, they probally won't be as colorful.

Wayne, some people could tell you what county they have found them in, but some people, like Tom, bought his flames and did not catch them.

Flame easterns in the wild, are found randomly, if there is one flame though, there are more. It's doubtful that you can find out where 1 has been found, then go there and find one, they most likely get picked off pretty easily by predators(those darn ringnecks!), and like Tom said, the wild ones wouldn't look like the ones he has, someone posted a pic a little while back off a red garter they found. I emailed them and told them it was a flame eastern, they wouldn't listen, but admitted it after a few other people told them, it was WC and was a "dirty" red color, looked like red with a brown covering.

I know they are not going to look as good as a CB flame but I'm into my native species and thought it would be kind of cool.

I am just going by what I have heard or read.In vivarium vol 9 #6 it tells about isolated pockets in Quebec and new york. They mainly occur in montreal.
