Close off the vents more on the top ( i imagine it has the standard venting on the top ?) just close it off with something till u get the desired temps ya need .

i have tried closing the top vent with a piece of pelxi-glass but it still needs to get about 5 more degrees. i have heard about heat pads but had a few questions, can the plastic of the cage take the heat of a heat pad under it? and about how many degrees will a heat pad raise it? thanks for any help.

Depending on the substrate type and thickness im not sure how much a UTH will ad to the cages heat overall. If its a deep substrate of sand then it would have little effect. Now you could possibly add it to the back wall of the cage not sure hoiw they are made on the backs if they are flat or not that would help ad ambient temps to the cage Ultratherm make a safe pad to place in the cage without harming the animals .

i think i might try a uth and see how that works. i have aspen wood chips for my substrat and its a pretty thin layer. here is a link to the cage i have, it shows the front and back of the cage if you would like to take a look and can come up with any more ideas. thanks for the help.

Depending on where your Vision or any other cage is located effects ambient temps. I use the same Vision you have for Albino & Pied x Jungle Fat Tailed Geckos. Using a 50 watt spot blulb or 4" wide Flex Watt to reach desired temps. For your Bearded Dragon try the 50 or 60 Watt spot bulb and maybe with Flex Watt Heat Tape. Vision cages do not need Hight wattage spot blubs to reach the 100f plus basking temps, that's the beauty of it. But if the cage lets say for example only is located in a basement or on the floor then the cooler temperatures will effect the ambient & basking temps; if the cage is located in a room where the household temperature is 70f plus then one could adjust temps by increassing wattage or adding heat tape. This is also true for other types of caging.
Although Vision recommends (if remmbered correctly) no higher than 50 watt bulb I have not experienced any problems using 60 watt with Ceramic Shroud. You can also call or email Vision Cages directly and they can give you more information on their products.
