Just an update on my Darwin...
I e-mailed my vet, he gave me some instructions and told me not to worry too much, if it's an infection, I've caught it early on
I also showed him to a local expert, a guy with many snakes, including three ball python's who's dealt with his share of respiratory infections.
Both of them gave me the same advice
I bought him a new 100 watt infared for his 25 gallon tank, and stayed on top of the humidity by purchasing a humidifier for my room as well as spraying down the glass on the inside of his cage 3 times daily. His heat's been at a constant 90 degrees, never dropping below (my room has become like a tropical rain forest... as soon as you walk in it feels like you've been drugged) To ensure no heat escapes, and no draft gets in, I've covered half of his tank with a towel.
It's been only a few days, and he's already better
I sat with him all day today (I skipped off school... bad idea considering my chem mid term's next week) helping him with his last bit of shed, he didn't make a single noise. When I held him up to my ear, I didn't hear any gurgling or popping or well...anything!
I showed him to the snake guy again, and he agreed that he's looking and sounding healthy. He told me to be on the safe side, keep the temp and humidity up at the high end for about a week.
He ate two hoppers today
so now he's nice, fat, warm and pretty much recovered!
Thanks for all your help! And I will still take more tips you guys have to ensure that the rest of his recovery period goes well.
