Can't Identify snake from Menorca

toadbamo Jan 22, 2005 09:30 AM

I found this snake near a beach in Menorca.
Menorca is a island of Spain and it's located in Mediterranean Sea, at East of Spain.
I try to find that snake in a guide-book of animals of the island but i can't found it.

I believe this to be Rhinechis scalaris (formerly Elaphe scalaris)

This is a young Ladder Snake, one of the European Rat Snakes. The pattern washes out in adults.
