Hey everyone. I bought an Anole Lizard for my boyfriends little sister. He's been doing great...eating well. I have him in a medium round kritter keeper. I use lizard litter (i place pastic on top when feeding to avoid injesting it). I mist him regularly and see him lick the water droplets. I noticed his foot peeling and have a few questions. Do I need to raise humidity for him to shed? Do they shed all in one day? I have experiance with scorpions, tarantula's and snakes. I am trying to give this lizard the best care because my BF's little sister does not have access to computers to look up information about her pet. Any advice, or tips for shedding would be greatly appreciated. Thank you everyone for your time.

I'm not too sure what a critter keeper is? But are you providing a UVA/UVB source? As well as a heat source? I only ask because if a critter keeper is what I think it is it's one of those plastic containers? Sorry if I'm wrong. But if you're misting, and you're temp. is correct, and you're providing the proper light/ heat sources, nutrition, etc., shedding shouldn't be a difficulty for the little guy. Some times I feel bad for mine, they look like a mess when they shed and I just wanna help them out lol, but if you're doing everything you're suppose to then have no worries. Check out Under The Leaves, it's an excellent site for anole care.
Good luck

Hey thank you, I am using a heat source but not UVA/UVB. I have it for my turtle. I did not even know anoles needed it. I will get one for him too. Thanx again.

What are the temps in your kritter keeper? I only ask because it is hard to heat those things without melting them. And if you are only using an UTH there is a chance that the little guy is not warm enough.

Defiantely throw some UVB on there and keep her nice and humid while she is shedding

Those plastic critter keeper boxes are only suitable for transporting anoles. You'll need to get at the very least a 10 gallon tank for a single anole. Bigger than that is better as it's easier to get a proper temp. gradient in the tank.
