Has anyone seen this type of humidity gadget in there LPetStore?

I saw this interesting think in Petsmart I believe. Basically it's a cylinder roughly in shape, has two ports..one in, one out. A regular air aquarium pumps air into this cylinder, and inside is water and a sponge or someting..

The moist air gets pushed out somehow, and that line is fed into the tank w/holes into it w/in the tank, to allow for moist air to escape...

Has anyone seen this? I wondered if it was useful. I am always skeptical of commercial humidity devices, except for misting sytems.

thanks

I bought this a while ago while I had anoles. I bought the wrong pump however, and it didn't work very well. If you follow the instructions on the side of the box, and get the appropriate size pump, it should work. Its called TropicAire or something right?

yes, what your thinking of is the TropicAire. I'm almost positive. It's exactly what you described. Like I said before, if you got the correct pump (it says on the side of the box) it will probably work fine. I got a much weaker pump than recommended, mistakenly, and it raised my humidity a few points. So I'm assuming that with the right pump, it will do what it says it will.

I made something similar out of a 20 oz soda bottle and some airline tubing and silicone. Not hard to do for a lot less than they are charging, I'm sure.
