white looking stuff growing in my new tank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

casxyrican Jul 05, 2003 01:42 PM

I just purchased a new tank less than a week ago, and I had some white looking stuff in my bark I purchased at the reptile store, I thought it was a spider, I waited a few more days, it got worse and was on the floor and all over the trees in my tank. I don't know what it could be, but some kind of fungas, and I'm not sure if it will harm my Emerald Tree Boa? What can I do? It looks very unpleasant, and nasty to put my hands inside, it also has some green little spots under neath the white cotton looking stuff as well!!

YIKES help me!! I have pics of it, my pics to put on here are over loaded!!

Whether it's spiders nests or mould, I'm sure drenching the bark in very hot water will get rid of it and then dry the bark out thoroughly in a warm airing cupboard.

why not just use damp towels or paper towels? They work for chondros, so why not emmies? Andy
