Temps for arizona Mt kings?

Ritas Jan 22, 2005 01:49 PM

Hello
From what i gathered reading the old forums these snakes prefer it cooler than most kings?
What are ideal cool and warm side temps?
Are they active at night or hide 24/7 like lets say most Pueblans do?
Thanks
Rita

I find they definatley prefer cooler temps than most other kingsnakes. They are from high altitutes.

I would say ideal warm and cool side temps would be 72 cool side to 80-82 warm side. My pair do well at a fairly constant temp
of 74-79, but I know that the thermal gradient would be more ideal.

In the wild, they hide deep in rock croppings, occasionally coming out to bask, but sometimes only expose a coil of their body to the sun to thermoregulate while the rest stays hidden.

Definatly secretive snakes.
