baytril dosage?

nate351 Jan 22, 2005 03:23 PM

I have a ball python who weighs 820gr, and developed mouth rot while in cooldown. As soon as I noticed it, I warmed him up and took him to the vet. However, there are no reptile vets in my area, and he does not know the dosage and preffered method of administration for the baytril. Should it be sub-cutaneous, IM, or just given orally? Any help?

Thanks,
nate.

Nevermind, I found it on the baytril website. If anyone else needs this info, I have it.

thanks,
nate.

Just for the record..

15mg per kg..daily for 10 days..Inter muscular injected into the front third of the body in the muscle running along its spine.

It may be a good idea to dilute the baytril with ringers or saline to reduce injection site damage. Baytril can burn tissue in some cases.

Do not use dosages like 2.5 for birds - kev

I only gave my 365g ball Baytril Suspention orally for 7 days. It turned out alright.

Both ways will work with Baytril. I always use Amikacin, works excellent, and less chance of it causing the necrosis (IMO) that Kevin stated.

I used it alot on burms several years ago and it can cause small knots if injected improperly.........orally worked best for me.
