I know PetSmart charges too much for their reptiles, but give me a break!? I stopped by a local store today and noticed that they have "Giant Leo's" (aka - normal retired breeders) on sale for $199.99. I can't believe that - who in their right mind would pay $200 for a normal phase retired breeder? That's highway robbery!
Not the end of the world, I know - but still, I needed to rant. Kind of caught me off guard , I actually stared at the sticker price for a good minute. *sighs*

those giants, are accually of the tremper giant line, so yeah, they are giants. there just not albino, or full grown. so thats why there labled giants. you got it backwards. we do sell adults, but there labled adult leopard geckos, and yeah there retired breeders, and they go for $89.99.

There was only 1 albino in that tank, the rest were regular phase, (I'm assuming het albino giants?). But that's the thing.. they weren't giant. I own a giant from A&M and these looked nothing like him. These they had were regular length, and regular size - looked just like my regular albino adults. And yes, they had large one's too priced at $89.99, but tank did not have retired breeders, it was full of juvenile's. ?? Are they doing something wrong then (incorrectly marketing them)?

they propably were labled wrong. but again, there are the giant leos, that when they come in they are regular giants, but not fully grown. then there are adults, that are retired breeders, but it wont be labled that. they wont sell them if they labeled them as such. marketing, remember?

I just got back from going to petsmart 5 minutes ago.

They had the normal...you know, 10 gallon tank with 5 leo's and 6 fat tails, trying not to eat each other. They had normal adults for 80 dallors then a baby albino for 80 too, with no tail, like half the others.

its just wrong.

nevin, I know you work there, but you can only speek up for your store, not the ones we go too.

did you say your store had the giants in?

there on our order list every single week. and i doubt that they would sell, thats why we dont order them. but i see the order form thats sent to every petsmart in the U.S. so i kno how the labling goes. why do you ask if we have them?

Well if you don't have them at your store, then how would you know if the others are real or not. If your store had "Giant Leoard Geckos" then you could tell if they where.

What this whole thing is about is, he thinks they are just old normal leo's they are trying to fake as Giants.

nevin or petsmart is not trying to pull the wool over your eyes..

i was just curious if ya had any at yer store..if did was gonna drop by and check them out.. as it stand i have enough giants.. but its cool petsmart has them.. if they are albino thats not necessarily a bad price. As far as for $89.99 for adults.. well hey thats retail you got to remeber that.. at reptile expos you'd pay about $40-$45 for those..retired breeders can make a nice pet for someone not interested in breeding them..

and it does crack me up. we do $80 koi. and i crack up everytime i think about it. to think that fish are worth so much.
