Personally I've never seen a lobster roach, but when I hear the name I think of a HUGE roach (because lobsters themselves are huge) ha ha ha.

Crickets are a terrific staple if you get tired of mealies. You can also give wax worms as a treat (or if you want yours to gain weight).

Question, what morph do you have? He is very beautiful.

mealworms should be used occasionally with gutloaded crickets being their staple diet. it is much healthier for them overall.

I am not so sure about lobster roaches for juvies. They are a very good staple food for adults and they are so cheap. just 20 (hopfully you got atleast 1 male and 1 female) will breed constantly and provide a nice supply of roaches. If i were you i'd play it safe and just feed mealies until it is full grown then you could switch to lobster roaches if they accept them.

Sorry i forgot your name, but the person who asked what morph that was, it is a normal.

Lobster roaches are great feeders. Use the smaller ones for your little guy. I also supplement with crickets, mealies and waxies. A word of warning: lobster roaches can climb pretty much anything so you will need some vaseline or bugstop. And they reproduce quickly if fed, watered and kept at 90+ degrees.

you said vaseline? i was also thinking about roaches but i know those little buggers are escape artists i have seen those things get into the smallest crevices. now i keep my crikets in a rubbermaid storage container would you put a layer of vaseline around the top to keep them from getting out and what about the geckos tank. i know that petrolium based products are not great to be inhaled (causes respitory problems) is it safe for the geckos.

I use bug stop, a lot of other people use vaseline with no reported problems.

I feed them in a sterilite sweater box that has the bogstop around the top to keep the roaches from climbing out. I don't even bother to put the lid on because the roaches aren't in there for long...they are usually eaten within a few minutes.

They come in small sizes that are perfect for young leos. They're also soft-bodied for easy digestion and packed with much more protein than crickets or mealies. Plus, in general, leos like how they taste.

Btw, I breed them along with several other roach species, and they don't stink. They are VERY low maintenance, and I would choose them over crickets or mealworms any day.

do you know of a reliable place to order the roaches... so far I've not found any, but then again I havn't looked in a few weeks (last time they were "out of stock". I also have VERY LITTLE space to store them, what would be a min. sized container for say, 50-100 roaches? (enough to feed all my herps for about 1 week, they get tired of bugs easily). Oh, and are lobsters the infesting kind? I don't think I could convince my fiance of getting them if they were...
Thanks!!

I've fed my juv leo 20 lobster roaches last week. And I must say that he/she loved it.
His/her poop got smaller (when I feed him crickets his poop is much bigger), so that means that he/she can digest it pretty well...

ps. nothing worse than the smell of crickets.. puaj!
