I have an older 1500 watt Helix with the night drop option, and it works great with the Oil filled heaters (keeps the room within 1 degrees of what it's set at). I bought Ranco's for all my Boaphile racks, and they to work great, but there is no night temp drop option (if I would have known this before I would have went with the more expensive Helix).

The big dog helix models are a bit pricy.... I wouldent go with a propotinoal for room heating.. The oil filled heaters will not cool and reheat as fast as say flexwatt. Louis is that you?

The herpstat is awesome i love it big difference in accuracy compared to the johnson
Yeah a proportinal thermostat is the most accurate between the 2. I beleive you were getting the 4 degree deal because of the element you were using and the way the on/off tstats work just didnt mix.. But yeah pulse is good stuff, I wuol dtake a herpstat anyday over a helix..

my oil filled heater is 650/900/1500 watts im going to use it for basic heating of a room as far as a night drop ill do it manually per season what do u recommend for a thermostat that can hold that wattage
Ranco, JC or a helix... I use mine on the lowest setting with a ranco and it works fine. The room is in the target all them time...
