My female common is 10 years old, and her carapace is 11 inches.

Actually, I live around Cleveland, OH. I got him there during a vacation up there. Rescued the poor thing, and well he's thriving to say the least.

thats good, did you rescue him from the road, they are all over the road around here during nesting season

yeah. he was by a road along a bike trail. Also, they was no water anywhere near. He was all dried up and so I felt bad for him.

I think I've posted this picture before. I pulled this big fellow out of a lake in northern Minnesota, along the Canadian border. And yes, I let him go. I didn't measure him but I guess he was at least 12" long.
