Pacman questions (with pic)

conorj Jan 23, 2005 06:32 AM

I'd like to start off by thanking all the people who post on this forum. It's helped me a great deal in preparing to keep a pacman frog. Shoto (my frog) is about 1 1/2 inches long (around 3 months old) and I've had him for 3 weeks. I feed him 3 guppies or 3 gut loaded crickets every other day. The tank tempature is 70f on the cool side, with a ceramic heat emitter on the other side. He spends most of his time somewhere near the middle. Humidity a bit below 60, I mist several times a day.

I just have a couple questions:

1. He has terrible aim when attacking his food and usually ends up with a bit of substrate in his mouth (eco-earth substrate). Can this be a problem if he eats too much of it?

2. He never goes in his water dish. He went in once when he noticed a fish was in there, but he was too slow to catch it so he leapt out. I mist pretty frequently so I'm assuming he doesn't need to go in ever?

3. I have a 40watt moonlight lamp that I put on at night, is this a good idea?

That's all I can think of right now, any help is appreciated thanks.

Here's his tank setup, anything I should add or change?

If he has bad aim you can try handfeeding him or using tongs to give him his food.

If his subtsrate is moist enough he wont need to use his water bowl at that time.
