Brown Puddles

SinHarvest Jul 05, 2003 03:15 PM

hey all, my beardy has a lil problem. he poops regular but i often find water brown puddles in his tank after he does his buisness. could it be diharea? his diet at the moment is: Diced Strawberries, Dandelion Leaves, Squash Baby Food, Crickets and Mealworms/Waxworms. is there anything i could add to his diet to make him a better diet or should i not feed him 1 of the above?

Strawberries shouldn't be a staple, just a treat. Most frutis should only be a treat actually. Try removing the strawberries, and increase the live feeders. Also, how old is your beardie? If it is too young, mealworms shouldn't be fed. Even when full grown, it isn't a good idea. Stick to the crickets and other feeders. And waxworms have a hugh content of fat, so feed those only occasionaly too. It sounds like diahrea though.

okay...i have spoken to breeders whom of wich often use straw berries for a main diet part.and also, you were wrong, mealworms have a high fat content, waxworms are very nutritious.so lemme point out 1 thing, if you cant answer correct, dont answer at all.

wut should i feed him? he is a year and a half old, i adopted him.and yes i did research but there is so many things to feed them! WICH IS THE MOST IMPORTANT?!

IMO if you had to scrap something cause your dragon is having soft stool I would scrap the strawberry, and baby food. Since he is an adult dragon his greens should be 75% greens 25%veggies,fruit. Good greens are those high in calcium and low oxilates some good staples are collard, mustard, dandalion, escarole, endive, arugala. Veggies some good ones would be squash, sweet potatos, snap peas, a little carrot. Fruits should consist of the smallest part of the salad. As far as live feeders mostly crickets, super worms if it's a large dragon say 16 inches is a better choice then mealies(less chitin- hard shell). Wax worms yes are fatty. For an adult should be used sparingly, as a treat or to fatten up. Most important thing is to mix it up, add variety. The more variety the more chance nutrients, and vitamins have to balance out. As for suppliments Calcium With d3 for an adult every other day should be ok, and a multi vitamin once a week. Hope this helps a bit, but as for fruits, and the soft baby food are more likely to be causing the loose stools.
