I need to know what to look for to identify a 100% het. for Pied.
I appreciate all help that is offered.

The ones on the paperwork that say "100% het for Piebald" guaranteed by the breeder. Whether it's writen in "marker" or pen. lol. That's the only thing I'd look for to be certain. The belly marker is not a guarantee. I've got adult het pieds. The male has the "marker" and the female doesn't. I also have CH yearlings with the marker........straight from Africa. I doubt they're het for pied.

Do those ch babies have all three white belly scales between the thick straight black edges? If so, how many did you pick them out of and are you going to breed them into your pied project just in case?

I think there should be a lot more het pieds out in the wild than pieds but it will be interesting to see what the ratio is between false positives and actual hets out of ch with good markers. I've also seen a lot of people confused by lines that aren't far enough apart to really be the het pied marker.

What percentage of known het pieds would you estimate have the marker? It's not perfect since some for sure hets don't have it and there may even be some non-hets with it but I suspect it's a useful tool when looking at captive bred possible hets.

Here is a pic of a 50% het pied female I produced.
I'll let you know if she proves to be a het. If you
are a 'belly marker' kind of person, then you'd probably
be in the camp that says this is a het.
