how much swimming water do I need for a blue tail?

reamk924 Jan 23, 2005 07:34 PM

Hi I am trying to make a custom cage for my blue tail Ricochet (aptly named). I just need to know how much water in gallons or whatever he/she would need as an adult... Thanks for any help,

Deborah

i would get about a 18 inch X 12 inch litter box with aprox 3 inches of water in it... that's all you'll probably need. the monitor will be able to submerge itself when he wants... and they seem to prefer being in a more confined dish than in a large open one. Mine actually prefer to go into their water dish only after they've scooped a pound of mulch into the water. They then hide in the soupy mix with their noses sticking out. mine use it as their daily toilet as most monitors would, so i make sure to clean the dish at least every other day.
